IT SOFTWARE ASSET MANAGER

We seek an experienced IT Software Asset Manager to manage and control our organization’s software assets throughout their lifecycle. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with software licenses, optimizing software acquisition and usage, and supporting strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate must have a solid background in software asset management, vendor relations, and data analysis.

Asset Management and Optimization: 

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of software assets, from acquisition to disposal, ensuring accurate asset records are maintained in the asset management systems.
• Identify opportunities for software cost savings through efficient license management, re-harvesting unused licenses, and monitoring compliance with vendor agreements.
• Track, review, and report on software usage to optimize license allocation and eliminate unnecessary spending.

Vendor Management:

• Build relationships with software vendors, staying updated on licensing models, new product releases, and end-of-life announcements.
• Work closely with procurement on renewals of software license agreements and resolution of any software or licensing issues.

Data Analysis and Reporting: 

• Perform ongoing analysis of software usage data and provide reports that help inform decisions related to software renewals, license reallocation, and budgeting.

Cross-functional Collaboration: 

• Work closely with Procurement, Finance, and Legal teams to align software asset management activities with business goals.
• Collaborate with application owners (in and outside IT) to ensure that essential information is shared, enabling effective control and alignment of best practices.
• Partner with Infosec to ensure software assets comply with security policies and standards.

Your Success Profile includes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. 
• 3+ years of experience in IT software license management, or a related role. 
• In-depth knowledge of software asset management best practices and license models. 
• Experience with IT asset management tools. 
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
• Certifications in Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), and ITIL are a plus.
